We want to believe that our kids leave home only when they have moved out of the family home. But after reading this wonderful children’s short story by children’s book writer Marita Nizam, I’ve come to a different conclusion; that our children leave home the moment we take them to daycare, nursery, or kindergarten, and we unclasp their hand, let them go, and watch with quiet apprehension as they head into their strange new world through an unfamiliar door – that world without us, without our protection.

From the moment our child is born, we have showered them with both unconditional love and affection.  We have told them daily that they are perfect and that no one compares to them. We have done all we can to arm them for the self-esteem challenges that inevitably lay ahead.

Your child will be making new friends, who all come with their own distinct personalities and points of views.  Suddenly, for the first time, your child will compare their personality and talents to those of a stranger – strangers who challenge them in ways they’ve never been challenged.  And for the first time in their life they may ask themselves, “Am I good enough?” Can you imagine what that must feel like?

Little Rabbit and the Grumpy Poos is a wonderful book ages 3 to 6 that will help prepare your child for their new life with new friends and classmates and the challenges that come with this next stage in their life.  The book will give your child insight on how to navigate the ‘Grumpy Poos’, who for the first time, will cause them to question their place in the world.

Little Rabbit and the Grumpy Poos is a beautiful short story that will be sure to have a long-lasting impact on your child.
